2nd Sunday in Advent, Year B
Please join us for our Children Led Mass at 9:00 at St. Agnes!
In our reading, God is coming to save the Jewish people in Babylon. They are no longer being punished. They have a promise of forgiveness and a journey home to Jerusalem. We hear the images of valleys being filled in, mountains and hills becoming small and the land being smooth. Isaiah is telling us that, with the coming of our God, justice will reign, and all will be equal. God loves everyone and he will return his people to Jerusalem! Prepare your heart for the coming of God!
In our gospel, we hear about John the Baptizer who baptizes people and tells them to change their lives. He preaches to the people, “Someone else is coming after me. He is more powerful than I am. I am not even worthy to undo his sandals. I am baptizing you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.”
