Ascension Sunday

In our reading we hear that after Jesus died and rose from the dead, he appeared to his apostles for 40 days. He told them not to leave Jerusalem. They were to wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit who will give them the power to be his witnesses throughout the world.
In our gospel, Jesus reminded his disciples that he told them that he would have to suffer, die, and rise again which they all saw. He told them that their job is to tell everyone to turn away from their sinful lives and God will forgive them. Jesus wants them to stay in Jerusalem until he sends the power (Holy Spirit) from heaven. Jesus blessed them and he went up to heaven. The disciples were filled with joy and went to the temple (church) every day to praise God.
We also celebrate the gift of our mothers. May God's blessings be upon each and everyone of them.
