Most Holy Trinity
In our reading, Paul wrote a letter to the Romans to tell them that everyone who is guided by the Holy Spirit is a child of God. We all have been adopted by God and we are truly God’s children. Because we are God’s children, we will have eternal life like Jesus who is God’s son.
In our gospel, Jesus was talking to his eleven disciples on the mountain. He is sending them out to preach to everyone and make more disciples through baptism. He tells them to teach others to keep the 10 commandments. He also promised he would always be with them.
Special Saint/Feast Day: St. Justin – June 1
Justin was from Samaria. He lived in the second century. His father brought him up without any belief in God. When he was a boy, Justin wanted to find out the truth about God. He read as many books as possible about God but he still wasn’t sure about Him.
Justin met an old man who told Justin about Jesus, the Savior. He encouraged Justin to pray so he would be able to understand the truth about God.
Justin began to pray and to read the Bible. He grew to love it very much. He was impressed to see how brave the Christians were who died for their belief in and love for Jesus.
Justin became a Christian when he was about 13 years old. He used his great knowledge to explain and defend the faith.
Justin moved to Rome and he began teaching there. He was arrested for being Christian. When asked by the judge, “Do you think that by dying you will enter heaven and be rewarded?” Justin replied “I don’t just think so, I am sure of it!”
Justin died a martyr around the year 166.
To keep our faith strong like St. Justin’s we can pray an act of faith often. A short one that’s easy to remember is: “My God, I believe in you.”
