Second Sunday in Advent, Year A

In our reading, we hear that the prophet Isaiah told others that a child will be a sign for all the world.  Who is the "child" Isaiah is referring to?   In our gospel, we hear about a man named “John the Baptist” who was telling people to change their lives.  He was announcing that Jesus was coming soon.  The prophet Isaiah had written about this a long time before John was born.
